Advanced Blackjack Rules

Many beginners online sportsbook malaysia limit themselves to the commands hit and stand in blackjack . However, understanding the advanced blackjack strategies of double down, split, insurance, and surrender can greatly increase your chances of winning blackjack. These advanced blackjack moves are detailed below:

Double down

The player can choose to double their original bet and only get one more card – regardless of its value. Some casinos limit doubling down to hands with the first two cards totaling 10 or 11. Others allow you to double up any cards.

Split

If the first two cards have the same value, the player can place a second bet equal to his first and split the pair. He uses the two cards as the first card on a separate hand. For example, if the player has been given two 8’s, he can place a second bet, the value of which is equal to the first bet. The dealer separates the 8s and places a second card on the first 8. Now the hand is played normally until the player either stands still or is busted. Then the dealer places a second card on the second 8 and that hand is played to the end.

Insurance

If the dealer’s face up card is an ace, the player can opt for insurance. This is a bet that the dealer’s face down card is worth 10, completing the blackjack. The insurance, which is priced at half the original bet, pays 2: 1 if the dealer actually has a blackjack. The net result in this case is that the player wins the insurance bet, loses the hand and thus gets his stake back. For example, the player has a hand with a total value of 18 and has placed a bet of $ 10. The dealer’s open card is an ace. The player now decides on an insurance bet which costs him $ 5. If the dealer has blackjack, the player loses the $ 10 bet on his hand.
